Vietnam's January seafood exports to Australia up 31.5% on-year

Vietnamese goods exports to Australia reached US$294.47 million in January 2014, an increase of 4.1% from the previous month and 24.1% from the same period of 2013, according to General Department of Viet Nam Customs.

Seafood exports to the market hit US$19.58 million, up 31.5% on-year.

Despite currently small export volume to Australia, Vietnamese exports to the market pose a lot of potentiality thanks to geographic proximity.

Major exported products included oil products, electronics, telephone handsets, seafood (mainly shrimp), machinery, equipment, cashew nuts, furniture, timber products and footwear.

Besides, the free trade agreement between Australia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), including Vietnam, will facilitate Vietnam's exports to the market in the future.
