Ukraine's January pig population down 1.2%
 

 

As of February 1, 2012, Ukraine's January pig population dropped by 1.2% or 90,100 heads compared with December, to 7,283,100 heads, the State Statistics Service has reported.

 

Pig population decreased by 2.8% or 115,300 heads compared to December, to 3,938,700 heads in private farms, and rose by 0.8% or 25,200 heads to 3,344,400 heads in specialised farms.

 

The pig population fell by 6.8% or 529,800 heads against February 1, 2011.

 

Specifically, pig population fell by 8.6% or 314,900 heads in specialised farms, and by 5.2% or 214,900 heads in private farms.

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in December the pig population went down by 5.9% or 462,600 heads compared with November, to 7,373,200 heads as of January 1, 2012.
