HK Ruokatalo sets up slaughtering joint venture in Sweden
 

Finnish meat products group HK Ruokatalo said on March 7 its Swedish unit SCAN AB will establish a slaughtering joint venture with Team Ugglarp AB in Skane, Sweden.

HK said slaughtering of all beef cattle and sheep procured by Scan in southern Sweden will be centralised in Team Ugglarp's production plant.

The company also said the joint venture was a part of a wider programme at Scan to improve cost effectiveness through reducing overcapacity.

The new production company is expected to start operations in spring 2008, HK said.
