ASF reported in Cottbus, Brandenburg, Germany

 

 

 

African swine fever (ASF) has been confirmed on a small pig farm located in the urban area of the free city of Cottbus, Brandenburg, Germany.

 

Germany's national reference laboratory, the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI), has confirmed the presence of ASF on a domestic pig farm located in Cottbus, within core zone 6, very close to the Saxon border. The affected area is a small farm with 11 animals that have been slaughtered and culled.

 

In Brandenburg, ASF was detected for the first time in domestic swine in July 2021 on three farms in the districts of Spree-Neiße and Märkisch-Oderland.

 

In July 2022, another ASF outbreak was confirmed on a finishing pig farm in the district of Uckermark.

 

Additionally, ASF has so far been detected in a total of 3,007 wild boars in Brandenburg.
