VIV MEA 2020, two other events postponed amid coronavirus threat

More international trade shows have been postponed due to the threat of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, which has recorded over 94,250 confirmed cases and caused 3,214 deaths worldwide as of Thursday, March 5.

Among these is VIV MEA 2020. Supposed to take place in Abu Dhabi this March 9-11, it has been postponed to Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

Another is VICTAM and Animal Health and Nutrition Asia 2020, which was to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 24-26, but which was postponed to July 9 – 11.

The management teams from VICTAM Corp. and VIV worldwide cited situation report #39 from the World Health Organisation, published on Feb. 28, in which the risk assessment for the regional level as well as the global level changed from high to very high.

The decision, the organisers said, was taken after careful consideration and in the interest of exhibitors and visitors, and to protect the health of all attendees.

Seafood Expo North America

VIV MEA is the international trade show from feed to food for the Middle East and Africa, while VICTAM and Animal Health and Nutrition Asia offers a series of industry conferences and technical seminars in the fields of animal feed technology, health and nutrition.

Meanwhile, the 40th edition of Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America will not take place as scheduled in Boston, USA, on March 15-17 and "is postponed while we look at other options", the organiser (Diversified Communications) announced on Tuesday, March 3.

The decision was reached "after many weeks of monitoring the evolving situation around COVID-19 and evaluating the full spectrum of feedback we received among hundreds of calls and emails", Diversified Communications said.

It said details on the new dates and place will be announced in April.

Earlier, Aquafeed Horizons 2020 conference, which was scheduled to take place on March 24 in Bangkok, was cancelled.
