Russia's grain exports to hit 23 million tonnes

Since July 1, 2011 up to present, Russia's grain exports reached 20.6 million tonnes, and in March, the index may increase by additional 1.5-2 million tonnes at the expense of improvement of the weather conditions, said Sergei Sukhov from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

Sukhov is the director of the department of agricultural and food market regulation and infrastructure development of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia.

According to him, the general export volumes will reach the level of 23 million tonnes, said Sukhov. He also informed that the Government plans to end the public purchasing intervention on the domestic grain market.

To date, the intervention fund stores large volumes of grains - nearly 7.5 million tonnes, and the Government expects to sell the volumes during the trade interventions. The grain volumes will be sold in those regions, which are experiencing difficulties on the domestic market, in particular, due to transport tariffs, said Sukhov.
