Vietnam to raise import tariffs on milk
                            


The Vietnamese Finance Ministry has decided to increase import tariffs on some kinds of milk products to help local milk producers, local newspaper reported Thursday (Mar 5).

 

According to the ministry's decision, import tax on fresh milk will be increased from 7 percent to 20 percent, uncondensed and sweet-free milk and cream from 5 percent to 15 percent, sweet-free milk as raw materials for finished milk products from 3 to 10 percent.

 

Import tariffs on other kinds of milk powder and finished canned milk products remain the same ranging from 3 percent to 7 percent.

 

The new tax rate will be effective as of March 9.
