Ukraine's Grain Harvest Forecast Increase In 2004
Ukraine's leading grain market analyst APK-Inform has increased its forecast for Ukraine's 2004 grain harvest to 32.3 million tons from a previous forecast of 30.4 million tons, APK-Inform said on its Web site Thursday.
The reason for the increase is that winter grains have wintered well, with little damage, as well as the fact that farmers are going to increase the spring grains planted area.
Ukraine harvested in 2003 20.2 million tons of grain, compared with nearly 40 million tons in the previous year, as a result of damage to crops by severe winter frosts.
