Another 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork to be released from China's state reserves
This follows a recent 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork released from state reserves to be channeled to Hubei, reported Reuters.
According to a government notice, 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork will be released from China's state reserves on March 5, 2020.
More 200,000 tonnes of frozen pork has been released from state reserves since December 2019 to supplement dwindling domestic pork supplies caused by the African swine fever outbreak.
The current COVID-19 outbreak has resulted in transport restrictions across China, further diminishing local supplies of pork and slowingthe growth of the poultry industry in the country.
