South Africa weekly corn deliveries up at 12,000 tonnes
Deliveries of corn to South African silos rose to 12,000 tonnes last week from 11,000 tonnes the week before, weekly data released Wednesday (Mar 3) by the South African Grain Information Service (SAGIS) showed.
The crop consisted of 6,000 tonnes of white and 6,000 tonnes of yellow corn. SAGIS said that 11.28 million tonnes have been harvested and delivered since the beginning of the season.
South African farmers intend to plant 2.76 million hectares of corn in the 2009-10 season, the Crop Estimates Committee said last week.
