Ukraine may see 3% year-on-year increase in volume of gross agricultural output this year

Ukraine's volume of gross agricultural output may rise by 3% in 2025 compared to 2024, according to the Institute of Agrarian Economics.

This positive trend is attributed to a degree of stabilisation within the industry as a whole and the gradual adaptation by farmers to the challenges stemming from the war's consequences.

However, the forecast volume of gross agricultural output in 2025 remains significantly lower than the 2021 figure (-19.1%) and is also 2.6% below 2023's figure. Specifically, in crop production, gross output is anticipated to grow by 3.4% compared to last year, aided by the expansion of oilseed crops, improved corn yields, and potential advancements in agricultural technologies.

At the same time, due to expected adverse weather conditions, the yield of certain crops, particularly rapeseed and rye, may decline.

Livestock production is projected to increase by 1.5% compared to 2024, with notable rises in poultry (+5.5%) and pork production (+4.6%), while other production outputs, specifically beef (-12%) and wool (-29.3%), are expected to see declines.
