Bird flu in the US spreads to Iowa state
Highly pathogenic bird flu in the US has spread to the state of Iowa, with another outbreak detected in a backyard poultry flock in Pottawattamie County, Reuters reported.
All birds raised in the backyard farm will be culled to prevent the spread of the disease.
The disease has continued to spread throughout the US. In February 2022, bird flu outbreaks were detected at commercial farms in the states of Indiana, Kentucky, and Delaware, which resulted in countries imposing export restrictions for US poultry products from those states.
Iowa was the centre of a major US bird flu outbreak in 2015, which killed 50 million birds.
