Vietnamese firm to build dairy cow breeding network
Milch Cow Co., based in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), is investing more than VND45 billion (US$2.41 million) to build a network of breeding facilities and meadows for dairy cows and meat cows in Lam Dong Province's Duc Trong District.
The company aims to ensure the best conditions to develop 1,200 milch and meat cows by 2012.
In the initial period, the company has moved more than 200 cows from HCMC to Lam Dong Province for breeding and raising purposes. It plans to develop meat cows on 250 hectares, of which 100 hectares will be used for creating high-quality meadows.
The company has a herd of 3,290 cows, with nearly 1,000 being raised in Cu Chi District.
Every year, the company provides more than 400 breeding milch cows to HCMC and other provinces in the country, and sells 1,000 meat cows to the market.
The herd of cows are managed and raised according to the quality standard ISO9001:2008 and they are cared for carefully and protected from disease, ensuring the quality of the cows.
The company has also expanded the areas of meadows to 496 hectares with diversified grasses, aiming to ensure feed for cows.
