Ukraine grain exports down 34% in February
Ukrainian grain exports fell 34% to 1.1 million tonnes in February from 1.66 million tonnes in January.
February grain exports included 600,000 tonnes of corn, 300,000 tonnes of barley and 200,000 tonnes of wheat, said Serhiy Stoyanov, director of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.
UkrAgroConsult agriculture consultancy last week said exports had fallen by about 23% in the first 23 days of February to 805,000 tonnes from 1.043 million in the same period in January.
So far in the 2009-10 season, Ukraine, has already exported about 16 million tonnes of grain. Analysts said exports could fall to about 20 million tonnes in 2009-10 from 25 million in 2008-09.
