Jerjjek Agri Venture investing US$2.86 million for poultry farm expansion in Nueva Ecija, Philippines

Nueva Ecija, Philippines-based Jerjjek Agri Venture Inc. is investing ₱160 million (US$2.86 million) for poultry farm expansion in the province.

This is intended to meet rising demand for chicken, one of the most affordable sources of protein in the country.

Jerjjek Agri Venture said the expansion involves increasing the production capacity to 320,000 bird heads from the current 124,000 heads. It also involves incorporating modern farming systems within its poultry farm in Peñaranda town.

The firm is seeking the amendment of its environmental compliance certificate (ECC) for this project. It involves integrating upgraded facilities to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen biosecurity measures, and improve environmental management.

"By increasing production capacity, the company aims to address rising consumer demand, support the continued growth of the poultry industry, and reinforce its commitment to environmentally responsible and sustainable agribusiness practices," Jerjjek Agri Venture said in an application filed with the Environmental Management Bureau.

The firm noted that the demand for poultry has steadily increased, as it is one of the most affordable, accessible, and widely consumed sources of protein for Filipino households.

"Population growth, urbanisation and evolving dietary preferences are placing greater pressure on the national food supply, making the poultry industry a critical component of the country's strategy to ensure food security and nutritional adequacy," it added.

Jerjjek Agri Venture said it is expecting to spend about ₱160 million (US$2.86 million), exclusive of operating and maintenance expenses, to build a modern, efficient and environmentally compliant poultry farm.

The project is expected to be completed within six months, subject to progress in securing permits and regulatory clearances.

Jerjjek Agri Venture will build poultry facilities, including four additional tunnel-ventilated poultry buildings, to support the increase in production capacity.

The expansion project will be implemented in sequential phases to ensure a systematic, well-coordinated development process while complying with all applicable regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
