Lallemand and TNI to jointly market Fibosel

Lallemand Animal Nutrition and Trouw Nutrition International (TNI), a Nutreco company, announced Mar 1 their cooperation on the distribution of a unique source of activated ß-glucans.

Produced in European-certified Lallemand yeast plants, the Fibosel ß-glucans feed ingredient stimulates animal immune response mechanisms, says Lallemand in its press release on the distribution agreement.

The Canadian animal nutrition company will offer upstream expertise with its yeast cell wall extraction process used in the production of Fibosel ß-glucans, with the appointment of TNI Feed Ingredients as the exclusive distributor of Fibosel in the European and North American markets, including also a key part of the Asia-Pacific region.

Fibosel contains activated ß-1,3/1,6 glucans extracted from specific S. cerevisiae yeast cell walls. Recognised for their strong immuno-stimmulatory properties, these natural polysaccharides activate the non-specific immune response in the gut, especially macrophage cells, which, in turn, stimulates the entire immune response.

By keeping the immune system activated, animal performance is optimised. Only low dosage levels of Fibosel are required for young animal, for instance, in piglet feeds, as a calf milk replacer, in poultry starter feeds, as well as in fish and shrimp diets.

Lallemand's know-how and experience in yeast production was cited as the reason for the co-distributorship, says TNI, pointing to its goal of delivering more value to customers as its key motive for the move.

"TNI's scientific teams have added to the technical value of Fibosel by validating the application of the product in numerous R&D and field trials, and now we would like to offer this value to our clients," notes Tine Snels, general manager of Selko and TNI Feed Ingredients.

Through the research centres of its parent company, Nutreco, TNI has proven the advantage of ¦Â-glucans to animal performance, and has over the years, recorded the specific benefit of Fibosel in numerous zootechnical trials in pigs, ruminants, poultry and aquaculture.

TNI's track record of successful product marketing is seen as compatible with a partnership that ties up with Lallemand's expertise in producing high quality yeast products, says Lallemand's human & animal nutrition general manager, Olivier Clech.

Both parties agreed that the partnership is set to strengthen the technical, marketing and sales support given to their customers.

A major supplier of silage inoculants in Europe, North America and Africa, Lallemand Animal Nutrition counts among its core products live bacteria for probiotics and silage inoculants, specific yeast for probiotics, and high value yeast derivatives.

The Netherlands-based TNI Feed Ingredients, the dedicated feed additives arm of TNI, considers in its key portfolio ingredients that improve animal gut and aid in animal stress management. With feed additive products such as betaine and brands such as Selacid Green Growth and Novasil under its purview, Fibosel is a logical addition to the Trouw Nutrition International feed additives portfolio, the company adds.
