No rise in price of poultry in Ukraine for 2005

The Poultry Farmers' Union of Ukraine, uniting the biggest Ukrainian poultry farms, predicts no rise in prices of poultry on the domestic market in the current year. Prices of poultry won't rise this year, Oleksandr Bakumenko, the chairman of the Poultry Farmers' Union board, said at a February 7 press conference.

According to Bakumenko, at present ,sale prices of broiler meat are reaching UAH 9.10 - 9.60 per kilogram. At the same time he believes the average sale price of this product will total UAH 8.50 - 9 in the current year.

Bakumenko also noted that the price situation on the egg market was seasonal in nature. However, in Bakumenko's opinion, this year the average sale price of the product won't exceed the price of 2004, which made UAH 2.74 per ten eggs. The share of enterprises incorporated in Poultry Farmers' Union exceeds 70% in overall poultry production, including production of eggs and poultry meat.
