FirstFarms A/S to build two pig production sites near Gádoros, Hungary

FirstFarms A/S entered an agreement last month to start the construction of two large pig production sites near Gádoros in the south-eastern part of Hungary.

One of the plants will hold 2,000 sows, while the other will produce 70,000 piglets annually. The Hungarian government had provided a grant covering 24% of construction costs of these sites.

FirstFarms is currently operating two farms in the immediate area with a total of 2,500 sows and producing 87,000 piglets annually. The company also operates pig production in Czech Republic and Slovakia.

"By expanding in Gádoros, we are optimising our opportunities for a good earning in the long term," said FirstFarms chief executive officer Anders H. Nørgaard.
