Chile sees 28.4% increase in pork and offal exports in 2020
By the end of 2020, Chile has seen a 28.4% increase in pork and offal exports, reaching 283,464 tonnes, according to data from the country's Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa).
Annual production was also up 8.3% over the previous year. Chile produced 574,165 tonnes of pork in 2020 compared to 529,957 tonnes in 2019. As for imports, the country imported 104,133 tonnes, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year.
Despite the good export figures seen last year, the export volume, which previously reached 18,104 tonnes, has been significantly reduced (-35%) in January when compared with the same month of the previous year (27,862 tonnes) while, on the other hand, imports have increased by 79% with 12,617 tonnes.
