Ukraine's December pig population down 5.9%
As compared with November 2011, Ukraine's December pig population fell by 5.9% or 462,600 heads, to 7,373,200 heads as of January 1, 2012, the State Statistics Service has reported.
Pig population dropped by 8.7% or 387,800 heads compared to November, to 4,054,000 heads in private farms, and by 2.2% or 74,800 heads to 3,319,200 heads in specialised farms.
The pig population fell by 7.4% or 587,200 heads against January 1, 2011.
Specifically, pig population fell by 8.4% or 306,000 heads in specialised farms, and by 6.5% or 281,200 heads in private farms.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in October the pig population went down by 0.8% or 67,100 heads compared with September, to 8,067,400 heads as of November 1.
