Jalisco, Mexico agrifood agency signs agreement to strengthen efforts preventing swine diseases' entry
Mexico's Jalisco Agency for Agrifood Safety and Quality (ASICA Jalisco) has signed a collaboration agreement with the state's Regional Union of Pig Farmers to strengthen epidemiological surveillance efforts that prevent the entry of swine diseases, such as African swine fever (ASF).
The objective of the agreement is to establish the general bases and mechanisms to collaborate in joint research, preservation, training, advisory, programmes and workshops activities; form working groups of experts and regulators; and participating in activities that require technical and scientific support in matters of health, food safety and quality, animal health intelligence, animal health diagnostics and epidemiological surveillance, among others.
Nationally, Jalisco ranks first in pork production, according to data from the Agrifood and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP).
