Over 10 countries ban Ukrainian poultry due to bird flu

Following the outbreak of bird flu in Vinnytsia region in January, Japan, Korea, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Iraq, Philippines, Morocco, Tunisia, Singapore, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and other countries have implemented a ban on poultry coming from Ukraine, Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) has reported.

The company said on Facebook that China also announced a ban on poultry import from Ukraine.

"Ukraine as a whole and MHP enterprises in particular act in full compliance with international norms and standards. Ukraine has introduced an active surveillance program that should show the absence of infection and restore the status of a reliable country in terms of product safety. The enterprises of MHP Group fully control the quality of products. We hope that European institutions and our partner countries will soon reconsider their decision in favor of Ukraine," the adviser to the chairman of the board of MHP on foreign economic affairs, Dmytro Los, said.

In addition, in connection with the EU decision to establish the rules of zoning and regionalisation with the aim of resuming the supply of poultry from Ukraine, MHP expects an early resolution of this issue.

"We are sure that following the European example, other countries will resume import of Ukrainian poultry in the near future," the company said.
