China to implement national standard for egg products this year
China has passed two national standards of liquid egg and egg powder to the Standardisation Administration of China, which are expected to be implemented this year.
China did not previously have a National Standard for liquid eggs, so the egg industry warmly welcomed this initiative as the egg processing industry has grown rapidly over the past 10 years.
The IEC standard of egg products was taken as reference for the draft of Chinese National Standards. Several parameters were set according to the conditions of egg farming and egg processing in China. In 2010, China General Chamber of Commerce brought together experts from related industries to form a drafting team. After several drafting meetings and two calls for comments on the internet, the draft was finalisedin October 2013.
Professor Cao Desheng, director of the standard sector of the industry development department of China's General Chamber of Commerce says this initiative will lift China's egg processing industry to the same level as international standards and regulations.
