Codfarmers poised for harvesting season and expansion of sales

Codfarmers is focused on its operations while it lengthens its grip in the European market.

The Norwegian company is currently preparing for the release of juveniles in new locations. The company is planning to become self-sufficient with juveniles from its hatchery based in Mørkvedbukta.

In the meantime, the company is also striving to add in automation in its processing plant based in Halsa, Norway, before the harvest season began.

Market development in preparation for an increased harvest volume is also within the company's plans.

The company said its focus in 2008 is to expand on contract sales of Codfarmers' products to leading European retailers while stating its belief that the market for farmed cod will remain strong.

"The sale of cod tongues and cheeks will add positively to the growing sale of liver and other bi-products," said Øystein Steiro, the company's CEO.
