Saudi Arabia's feed barley imports up 18 percent
                                     


Saudi Arabia imported more than 8 million tonnes of feed barley, posting an increase of 18 percent compared to calendar 2007, reports the US Department of Agriculture.

 

Also, in this year, Saudi Arabia implemented its decision to reduce wheat production by 12.5 percent per annum and is expected to import 1.5 million tonnes of wheat to account for the reduction in local production. On the other hand, Saudi rice imports reached nearly 1.4 million tonnes, an increase of 43 percent from 2007.
