Mowi revises estimate for 2025 harvest to 530,000 tonnes

Mowi Group has revised its 2025 harvest estimate upwards from 520,000 tonnes to 530,000 tonnes.

According to Mowi chief executive officer Ivan Vindheim, the company has seen "a significant improvement over the past year, with enhanced sea growth, higher survival rates, improved feed conversion efficiency, and superior product quality."

Mowi is also strengthening its presence in Norway by acquiring Vigner Olaisen AS's stake in Nova Sea, increasing its ownership from 49% to 95%. Nova Sea is a key player in northern Norway's salmon industry, covering the entire production cycle from hatchery to market. It is projected to harvest 52,000 tonnes of salmon in 2025.

"With the integration of Nova Sea, our volume projections for 2026 stand at 600,000 tonnes, bringing us closer to a 400,000-tonne harvest in Norway alone," Vindheim stated.

Mowi continues to invest across its entire value chain, with a key initiative being its post-smolt strategy. This approach focuses on raising larger and more resilient smolts, improving fish welfare and overall productivity.

For the sixth consecutive year, Mowi has been recognised as the world's most sustainable animal protein producer by the Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index, the leading global benchmark for sustainability in the protein industry.

Mowi's consumer products segment achieved a record-breaking operating profit of €53 million in Q4 2024, bringing the total for last year to €146 million. Annual production grew by 6.5% to 247,000 tonnes of processed products.

"Retail demand remains strong, and we are committed to developing high-quality, innovative products that align with market trends," Vindheim commented.

Mowi's fish feed division also had a record year, reporting an operating profit of €62 million and producing 585,000 tonnes of feed. To support further growth, the company is expanding its feed plant in Bjugn, Norway, by 60,000 tonnes, with completion expected in Q2 2026.
