Argentina's Chaco region to launch FMD vaccination in March
In March 2013, Argentina's Chaco region was scheduled to begin the region-wide foot and mouth vaccination.
This was confirmed by the National Service for Animal Health and Quality and the Ministry of Production.
Launching on March 4, a 60-day inoculation programme will be run across all livestock units in the province including breeding stock and buffaloes. The scheme will also include brucellosis vaccination of 3-8 month old calves.
Currently recognised as FMD free, Argentina and its beef sector depend on successful vaccinations for beef profitability and trade opportunity.
FMD vaccination programmes are on-going north of the Colorado River with Patagonia being free from vaccinations.
