Malaysia now sells Pakistani beef

Pakistan's beef is now available in Malaysia, with the meat being sold in nearly 100 hypermarkets nationwide, the Pakistan High Commission said Thursday (Feb 24).

The export was an important development in Pakistan-Malaysia bilateral trade relations, said Pakistani High Commissioner to Malaysia Masood Khalid.

He said the beef comes from young cows of the "Cholistani" breed, an indigenous species from Pakistan and Punjab province.

The animals slaughtered are around 24 months' old and are de-boned according to International Cut Standards, he said.

"Banking upon the successful launch of the beef sale in Malaysia, our next target would be to export Pakistani mangoes through a formal channel to ensure their availability throughout Malaysia for consumers' benefit," said Khalid.
