India soy up 4 percent on Argentine strikes

India's benchmark soy futures rose 4 percent on Tuesday (Feb 24) on fears that supplies may be impacted by a farmers' strike in Argentina, analysts said.

Rapeseed futures also rose in tracking soy and on farm protests in Argentina -- the world's third biggest soy producer -- but gains were limited as arrivals at markets in big producer, Rajasthan, continued to average over 115,000 bags, far higher for this time last year.

Farmers in Argentina are protesting against a tax on soy exports and other government agricultural policies which is due to be lifted at midday on Tuesday (Feb 24).
