Avian flu discovered in poultry facility in Ontario, Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said avian flu has been found in a poultry facility in Amherstburg, Ontario.
According to the CFIA, it was detected on February 19.
To prevent the spread of avian flu, the CFIA has imposed control zones in areas around where the virus has been detected, which requires people moving birds and byproducts to have a permit.
The CFIA said it is responding to cases of avian influenza in birds across Canada, with the most common type being highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
However, the agency reminds residents avian influenza is not a food safety concern and eating cooked poultry or eggs cannot transit the virus to humans.
