Ukraine's 2012 meat and meat products production is forecasted by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food at 2.26 million tonnes, the ministry's press service announced.
According to the statement, the ministry is forecasting production of beef at 410,000 tonnes, production of pork at 750,000 tonnes, and production of poultry meat at 1.06 million tonnes.
The volume of consumption, according to the statement, is projected at 2.477 million tonnes based on a calculation of 52.3 kilogrammes per person per year.
The ministry is forecasting meat imports in 2012 at about 217,000 tonnes (including 20,000 tonnes of beef, 130,000 tonnes of pork, and 60,000 tonnes of poultry meat) and forecasting exports at about 90,000 tonnes (including 10,000 tonnes of beef, 15,000 tonnes of pork, and 62,000 tonnes of poultry meat).
According to the State Statistics Service, production of meat in live weight was 3.028 million tonnes in 2011, up 3.5% over 2010.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food raised its forecast for production of meat and meat products in Ukraine in 2011 by 0.1 million tonnes or 5% to 2.215 million tonnes in October 2011.
