Norway's 2011 pork sales up 2.8%

Norwegian pork sales rose 2.8% in 2011 according to statistics presented by the meat company Nortura.

Price and healthiness have been attributed as the key factors behind the increase in demand for pork products.

Pork chops, ribs, steaks and fillet were the cuts most sought after by Norwegian consumers, though the most noticeable increase in demand could be found for shredded pork.

There was a 50% increase shredded pork sales in 2011, a trend that has continued into 2012, as there has been an additional 30% increase in shredded pork sales, thus far, in 2012.
