Malaysia's subsidy applications for egg, poultry producers remain closed

Malaysia's Veterinary Services Department said subsidy applications for egg, poultry producers for this year have remain closed, The Star reported.

The department said subsidies for the local poultry industry were only discussed at a Malaysian Cabinet meeting on February 17.

The department and Malaysia's Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security were still awaiting the Cabinet's approval for implementation of the subsidies.

Last year's subsidy applications deadline for poultry and egg producers was January 15.

Malaysian news outlets reported that poultry farmers don't think the government will keep subsidising them in an effort to stabilise output.

The issue became apparent when the Google Form for submitting a subsidy claim was no longer accessible on the department's website, according to sources who represent an egg-producing farm in the Klang Valley, based in greater Kuala Lumpur.
