UN expects more wheat crops for 2013/14

The UN's World Food Organisation (FAO) is expecting more crops for the grain season of 2013/14 due to rising production and a larger acreage of winter wheat in the EU.

The FAO estimates that the winter wheat acreage in the EU will grow with 4-5%, despite the difficult sowing conditions in Western Europe because of the rain.

According to the FAO, the winter wheat acreage in Russia and Ukraine remained relatively stable.
