Japan's December compound feed slides 3.9%
Japan's compound feed production in December 2011 fell 3.9% on-year to 2.27 million tonnes, the country's agricultural ministry said Monday (Feb 20).
Japan's feed production has gradually been picking up since it dropped 7% in April following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. It makes around 24.5 million tonnes of compound feed annually.
Japan produces very little corn of its own comparing to the US. Japan is currently the world's biggest importer of the main ingredient for animal feed.
