Ukraine bans meat imports from Russia and Asia
Animal diseases found in Russia and Asia have prompted Ukraine to ban imports of pork and poultry from the afflicted areas.
Pigs and pork products from Russia's Volgograd Region have been banned due to registered cases of African hog cholera there, effective February 19, 2010. The same ban was applied to Guatemala.
The State Committee for Veterinary Medicine of Ukraine also decided to ban imports of chicken products from Myanmar, Nepal and China due to the outbreak of bird flu in these countries.
