African swine fever vaccine to be available in the Philippines

Philippines' agricultural product firm KPP Powers Commodities has partnered with Vietnam's AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock for the distribution of the first commercially available African swine fever (ASF) vaccine in the country, BusinessMirror reported.
Juancho Robles, managing director of KPP Powers, said AVAC is the only company in the world that has a commercial use ASF vaccine with a valid certificate of product registration.
AVAC manufacturers the ASF vaccine in Vietnam. The vaccine underwent stringent field testing and clinical trials under the close supervision of the Vietnamese government.
AVAC is the first Vietnamese veterinary vaccine factory certified under the World Health Organization-Good Manufacturing Practices (WHO-GMP) standard.
Robles said AVAC is part of RTD Group Vietnam, which has more than 25 years of experience in the production of veterinary vaccines, pharmaceuticals, and related farm systems.
AVAC has patented the DMAC Cell Line, the only ASF vaccine cell line that doesn't significantly degrade when used for commercial ASF vaccine production.
AVAC first received the approval for commercialising the ASF vaccine in June 2022, and the vaccine has been used on a number of significant commercial farms throughout Vietnam, including Charoen Pokphand Foods, one of the world's biggest integrated animal and food corporations, with a reported 95% vaccine efficacy rate.
More than 600,000 doses of the AVAC ASF vaccine have been given in field trials since July 2022, according to a recent government report from Vietnam.
Vietnam will begin its own nationwide distribution of the vaccine to help local swine farmers following the successful trials.
