Swine culled in Sarawak, Malaysia in three day operation
Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Malaysia's Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development, said about 1,400 swine at a commercial farm and 93 swine in a smallholder farm have been culled in Sibu, in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia due to African swine fever (ASF), The Borneo Post reported.
He said all culled swine and contaminated items including feeds will be buried on site, and disinfection carried out on swine sheds and surrounding areas.
Dr Rundi also said the Betong Division in Sarawak state has been declared as an ASF control area, which permits Malaysia's Department of Veterinary Services to conduct clinical and serological surveillance to find out the spread of the ASF there.
