Between the beginning of the current marketing year July 1, 2011 and February 14, 2012, Ukraine exported 12 million tonnes of grain, an increase of 4.61 million tonnes on the same period in the previous marketing year, the agriculture ministry reported Monday (Feb 20).
The amount of grain exported to February 14 included 2.98 million tonnes of wheat (comprising 1.64 million tonnes milling wheat and 1.34 million tonnes feed wheat) 6.95 million tonnes of corn, 1.94 million tonnes of barley and 10,000 tonnes of rye.
On the same date last year grain exports totalled 7.39 million tonnes, including 2.65 million tonnes of wheat, which comprised 2.21 million tonnes milling wheat and 431,300 tonnes feed wheat, 2.19 million tonnes of corn and 2.42 million tonnes of barley.
In 2011 Ukraine's grain harvest in clean weight was 56.7 million tonnes. Ukraine's grain harvest in 2010 fell by 14.8% on the year to 39.23 million tonnes in clean weight because of drought.
