Russia's BEZRK-Belgrankorm to launch US$157 million poultry bio plant

By the end of 2012, a poultry bio plant, a slaughter processing and a logistics centre worth a total of RUB4.7 billion (US$157.7 million) is to be launched by Russian agricultural holding BEZRK-Belgrankorm, the company's spokesman Vladimir Sayenko said Monday (Feb 20).

"Most of the funds are to be invested into the construction of a slaughter and advanced poultry processing unit, with a capacity of around 12,000 birds per hour. It will meet with all the processing norms that will allow for the meat to be delivered to EU consumers as well," Sayenko said.

In 2012, the company plans to raise poultry production by 19% on the year to 239,500 tonnes.
