Togo to set aside US$1.8 million to fishing, aquaculture

Togo plans to allocate a budget of CFA1.1 billion (US$1.8 million) to fishing and aquaculture this year.
The funds will enable the continuation of the Togo Aquaculture Project (PDAT), which is currently at its pilot stage and is conducted at the Nangbeto Lake. They will focus on helping fish farmers to set up floating cages and organising workshops on aquaculture techniques.
Togo's aquaculture output stood at 1,151 tonnes of fish in 2022, against 730 tonnes in 2020.
