More US retailers affected by Rancho's beef recall

With an estimated 8.7 million pounds of beef distributed by Rancho Feeding Corporation over the course of 2013, the USDA's list of affected US retailers in the latest food recall continues to expand.

The initial list posted on February 12 consisted of neighbourhood markets in California and Pastoral Plate, a meat retailer whose San Francisco Bay Area pick-up locations received some of the recalled product.

The list has expanded since then, to include a handful of retailers in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. The number of California locations now tops 970.

As indicated in the initial recall notice, there is still no indication of where the product was sold in Illinois or Texas.
