Egypt allocates US$185 million for project that will acquire more than 4,000 cattle
Egypt allocated approximately US$184 million under the National Veal Project, the Daily News Egypt reported.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, recently approved around US$5.9 million to support 428 small-scale farmers and recent graduates. The total project funding will enable the acquisition of 4,280 head of cattle as part of the presidential "Decent Life" initiative, which aims to improve rural living standards.
To date, the project has benefitted about 44,400 farmers, facilitating the breeding and fattening of over 514,000 cattle, including beef calves and high-yield dairy heifers. This effort ensures a consistent supply of meat and dairy products, contributing to market stability.
The Ministry of Agriculture is collaborating with local agricultural and veterinary directorates to provide field support and veterinary care and to address any challenges faced by beneficiaries.
