140,000 birds to be culled by Czech Republic due to bird flu
Miroslav Toman, Czech Republic Agriculture Minister said 140,000 turkey and chickens will be culled at a poultry farm east of Prague, where the H5N8 bird flu virus has been detected, reported Reuters.
The infection is Czech Republic's second case of the H5N8 virus, after a farm located east of the country was also discovered to have the virus last month.
The highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu virus has spread throughout Europe since the beginning of 2020.
Toman added that 120,000 birds on another poultry farm may be culled, as it is located within 3 km of the imposed sanitary radius from the affected location.
