Russia extends list of US pork, poultry suppliers
Russia's food quality watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said Friday (February 18, 2008) that it has expanded its list of US pork and poultry suppliers allowed to export their products to Russia.
Rosselkhoznadzor said the decision was due to the quality and safety guarantees offered by the US veterinary service.
The newly included companies include pork packers Amity Packing Co., of Illinois, Quality Pork Processors, of Minnesota, Rupari Food Services, of Illinois, and poultry producers Pilgrim's Pride of Delaware, Georgia, and Mountaire Farms of Delaware, Del..
Russia on Thursday also expanded the number of beef plants approved bringing the total number of beef plants and cold storage operations approved for export to Russia to 26.
These included plants from JBS-Swift and Co., Tyson Fresh Meats and National Beef Packing Co.
