Thailand increases farm price of pork as it works to decrease retail price

The Internal Trade Department has increased farm price of pork from THB 44-45 per kilogram to THB 59-61, resulting in the retail price rising to THB 120 per kilogram, said The Nation, Thailand's English daily newspaper.

The farm price increase was made on Thursday (February 14, 2008).

Director-general Yangyong Phuangrach said the department will revise its formula for retail pork price calculations, which should bring down the price to less than THB 120 per kilogram in order to mitigate the impact on consumers.
