Two additional bird flu cases confirmed in Incheon, South Korea

 

 

South Korea has confirmed two new cases of highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu at egg farms in Incheon, 80 km southeast of Seoul, bringing the total number of bird flu cases at local poultry farms in the country to 95, Yonhap News Agency reported.

 

Quarantine authorities have restricted public movement at the poultry farms as poultry have culled in the affected areas previously as part of preventive measures to stop the spread o the virus.

 

The first case of H5N8 bird flu among domestic poultry in South Korea was detected at a duck farm in in Jeongeup, a North Jeolla Province city 290km south of Seoul back in November last year.

 

South Korea's worst bird flu outbreak occurred between October 2016 to February 2017, with 340 bird flu cases reported among poultry farms.
