JBS USA says 700 pork plant workers received COVID-19 vaccine

JBS USA said 700 workers at its Beardstown, Illinois pork plant had received the first COVID-19 vaccine dose on-site, with a second dose to come in March, Reuters reported.

In January, the company said it offered US$100 to workers who received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Most employers in the United States said they would offer COVID-19 vaccine to workers, but supply is limited and is prioritised for healthcare workers and the elderly. Some states have opened vaccine availability to essential workers which may include workers at meat plants.

JBS USA is the US arm of Brazilian meatpacker JBS SA. JBS USA processes pork and beef in the country.
