Mexico suspends poultry imports from the US state of Indiana due to bird flu

Mexico's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has announced a ban on poultry imports from the US state of Indiana after bird flu was discovered there, Riviera Maya News reported.

Mexico's National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality said the import restriction includes live poultry, meat, poultry offal or viscera and eggs.

The highly pathogenic H5N1 strain of avian influenza has resulted in outbreaks across Europe and Asia.
