Uzbekistan officers seize chicken legs amounting US$800,000 in 2011
 

 

The press service of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said that its customs officers disclosed 573 facts of illegal movement of 228 tonnes of chicken legs for total sum of UZS1.5 billion (US$821,000) in 2011.

 

In Syrdarya region, customs officers prevented an attempt to smuggle 300 kilogrammes of chicken legs for UZS3 million (US$1,641) from neighbouring state. The violator was Jahongir A. from Bekabad. He has no documents, which allowed him to import goods.

 

Fayzillo E. from Ferghana region hid some 825 kilogrammes of chicken legs for over UZS5.3 million (US$2,899) in his house. The goods were smuggled from neighbouring state in small quantity.

 

Customs officers of Namangan region stopped KamAZ truck, which was transporting 14.5 tonnes of chicken legs for UZS116.6 million (US$63,786). He has no documents for goods.

 

The committee said that customs investigations are underway on all cases.
